Family Museum

A safe overview of the family museum concept and current boundaries.

The Family Museum is the idea of preserving meaningful family objects, photographs, awards, documents, and stories with context.

What this means

  • Museum items need ownership, privacy, provenance, and preservation context.
  • Metadata, protected media, and provenance stay connected without making a private exhibit public.
  • Families should be able to distinguish private keepsakes from future shareable collections.

How AINMAX supports this

  • The protected Museum workspace manages collections, exhibit metadata, private media, archive imports, and preservation context.
  • Museum media uses authorized file access, protected previews, explicit metadata changes, and version-aware archive actions.
  • Publication remains a separate controlled workflow rather than an automatic consequence of adding an item.

What is available now

  • Authorized users can create, update, and archive Museum collections and exhibit metadata.
  • Private media upload, protected preview, PDF download, metadata filtering, and archive workflows are implemented.
  • Viewer and owner permissions are enforced separately, and public sharing is not automatic.

What is planned

  • Additional preservation metadata and richer exhibit storytelling.
  • External partner-museum integrations only after separate privacy and interoperability review.
  • Automatic AI description or classification remains inactive.
Privacy / safety note

Museum media remains private by default. Uploading an item does not publish it, and access continues to depend on family permissions and explicit sharing choices.
